World Science Festival
May 31June 1, 2012
The World Science Festival returns with a vibrant lineup of more than 40 events throughout the city from May 30 through June 3. The Museum’s two festival programs explore the complex relationship between people and machines. British filmmakers AL and AL present The Creator, a beautiful, surreal film that follows computers from the future on a mystical odyssey to discover their
creator, Alan Turing, the pioneer of artificial intelligence. The other program will be a preview screening of Robot and Frank, starring Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon. The winner of the 2012 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Prize at Sundance is a dramatic comedy
about a jewel thief whose robot caretaker becomes an unlikely partner-in-crime—and soulmate. Each screening will be followed by a discussion with experts in artificial intelligence and robotics, exploring the scientific and societal issues raised by each film.
