The multi-talented Mike Mills is a writer, director, and former graphic designer who started his film career making music videos. After gaining attention for his inventive 2005 comedy-drama Thumbsucker, he has made two ambitious and semi-autobiographical films, Beginners and 20th Century Women, inspired by his father and mother respectively. A critical and audience favorite at this year’s New York Film Festival, 20th Century Women is a bold, delightful, and psychologically astute film that features Annette Bening in one of the year’s unforgettable performances.
