 minent authors and filmmakers will discuss the theme of the outsider in sc
 ience fiction literature and film\, from African-American and Latino persp
 ectives. This hour-long discussion will be moderated by filmmaker\, produc
 er\, and curator Warrington Hudlin. The discussion was programmed by Dan A
 bella for the Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival\, which takes p
 lace from December 7 through 9\, 2012. \n\n\n	Speakers \n	\n	Walter Mosley
  is the author of more than 37 acclaimed books\, including the major bests
 elling mystery series featuring Easy Rawlins. His work has been translated
  into 23 languages and includes literary fiction\, science fiction\, polit
 ical monographs\, and a young adult novel. \n\n\n	Sam Delany is an author\
 , professor\, and literary critic best known for his science fiction novel
 s\, which include Babel-17\, The Einstein Intersection\, Nova\, Dhalgren\,
  and the Return to Nevèrÿon series. \n\n\n	Alex Rivera is a filmmaker best
  known for his feature film Sleep Dealer\, which premiered at the Sundance
  Film Festival in 2008\, where he was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Feature 
 Prize for best film with a science theme\, and the Waldo Salt Screenwritin
 g Award. \n\n\n	Lawrence Oliver Cheery is a writer and producer for Haylie
 s Films\, an independent company that produces science fiction\, dramas\, 
 and documentaries. \n\n\n	Lola Salvador and Carlos Molinero wrote\, produc
 ed\, and directed the acclaimed experimental feature film The Mist in the 
 Palm Trees\, a journey through space and time using footage shot throughou
