Norman Mailer orchestrated his own political happening in the spring of 1969, running for New York mayor in the Democratic primary with journalist Jimmy Breslin as his sidekick, seeking the nomination for city council president. Documented by British filmmaker Dick Fontaine, their free-wheeling and highly rhetorical campaign provides a flavorsome analog to contemporary Fun City caper films.
