The Thing From Another World
Dir. Christian Nyby. 1951, 81 mins. 35mm. With Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan, James Arness. Air Force pilots stationed in the North Pole discover a downed plane that turns out to be an alien spacecraft in this intelligent, allegorical science-fiction film. Although Howard Hawks produced the film, and Christian Nyby was the director, Hawks’s personality and style are evident throughout.
