DESCRIPTION:\n	With director Steve Hoover in person&nbsp\;&nbsp\; \n\n\n	Di
 r. Steve Hoover. 2012\, 92 mins. Digital projection. With Rocky Braat\, St
eve Hoover. Winner of both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in
Documentary at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival\, Blood Brother chronicles
American Rocky Braat’s decision to move to India and work with orphaned ch
ildren living with HIV. “Rocky Anna” (which means “brother” and is his nic
kname among the children at the orphanage) left a dissatisfying life in Am
erica when he traveled to India as a tourist. Having grown up without a cl
ose-knit family of his own\, he found his calling living and working with
kids in need. Despite formidable challenges\, his playful spirit and deter
mination in the face of despair prove to be an invaluable resource. This d
ocumentary\, by Rocky’s longtime friend Steve Hoover\, traces Rocky’s stor
y of working in the village of Tamil Nadu\, India\, over the past five yea
rs. The film illustrates his commitment to the children and their families
who face life and death situations on a daily basis.&nbsp\; \n	\n\n\n	Var
iety wrote “Documentaries don’t come any bigger-hearted than Blood Brother
\, a highly worked yet non-manipulative first feature for Steve Hoover tha
t requires no string-pulling to achieve its inspirational impact.” \n\n\n
The screening will be followed by a conversation with the director Steve H
 oover\, moderated by Coralie Paul\, President\, REACT to FILM\, a nonprofi
t organization&nbsp\;devoted to using the best documentary filmmaking to p
romote social responsibility and to spark civic engagement. \n\n\n	Tickets
