Followed by a discussion with author Matt Zoller Seitz,  production designer Mark Friedberg, and cinematographer Robert Yeoman, and by a book signing in the Moving Image Store

Dir. Wes Anderson. 2004, 119 mins. 35mm. With Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston. The idea of filming at the legendary Cinecittà film studio was a longtime dream for Wes Anderson. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, one of his most fanciful movies, was made on lavishly stylized sets designed by Mark Friedberg. It is a delightfully unpredictable tale about a famous oceanographer looking to get back at a mythical shark. With the idiosyncratic irony typical of his previous roles for Anderson, Bill Murray adds layers of depth as a postmodern Ahab. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Matt Zoller Seitz, production designer Mark Friedberg, and the film's music supervisor Randall Poster, and a book signing in the Moving Image Store.

Please note: Due to a schedule change, music supervisor Randall Poster is not able to attend.
