A Colombian immigrant living in Jackson Heights struggles to survive with her two children after being abandoned by her husband, in this powerful and bittersweet contemporary New York film based on real experiences. “It’s nice to be reminded that striving newcomers have long strengthened this country,” wrote Stephen Holden in The New York Times about the film, which received an honorable mention at the Tribeca Film Festival. Paola Mendoza and Gloria La Morte, co-writers and co-directors of the movie, will be present for a conversation after the screening.
