Jessica Hausner’s masterful meditation on romance is deeply moving, dryly comic, and philosophical beneath its perfectly realized visual style. Preceded by brouillard—passage #14 (Dir. Alexandre Larose. Canada, 2014, 10 mins. 35mm. New York premiere.) Layering in-camera long takes, Larose condenses the colors and movements of a bucolic landscape into an ecstatic and spectral time-lapsed vision.
