SCREENING
Enchanted
Saturday, September 26, 2015, 4:00 p.m.
Dir. Kevin Lima. 2007, 107 mins. DCP. With Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden.A Disney fantasia set on the streets of New York City, this smart satire stars Amy Adams as a fairy tale princess banished by a wicked stepmother to modern-day Manhattan. This fish-out-of-water premise yields one of the freshest and most inventive family movies of the last decade, as Enchanted cleverly lampoons every fairy tale cliché in the book (see: happily whistling cockroaches and rats helping to tidy up). The film is all propelled by Adams’s winning performance, which strikes a fine balance between winking camp hilarity and genuine sincerity.
