Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One
Sunday, September 27, 2015, 4:30 p.m.
Introduced by Shonni Enelow, Assistant Professor of English at Fordham University and author of Method Acting and Its Discontents: On American Psycho-Drama (Northwestern University Press, 2015), followed by a book signing.
Dir. William Greaves. 1968, 75 mins. 35mm. With William Greaves, Patricia Ree Gilbert, Don Fellows. The ultimate meta-movie unleashes multiple film crews in Central Park with only vague instructions and then documents the mayhem as they proceed to revolt against director/instigator William Greaves, who manipulates the spectacle with the craftiness of a master charlatan. Part docufiction whatzit, part counterculture happening, Symbiopsychotaxisplasm is a landmark cinematic experiment that ingeniously deconstructs the filmmaking process.
