Part of Made You Look: Documenting the Art, History, Power, and Politics of Hip-Hop Culture

Dir. Pascal Tessaud. 2016. 60mins. Digital projection. In French and English with English subtitles. With Rahzel, Kenny Muhammad, BMG, Flashbox, Alem, BMG, and Doug E. Fresh. In Beatbox Boom Bap Around the World, director Pascal Tessaud takes audiences on a globe-spanning musical journey to introduce the very best vocal percussionists in the game. Alongside Rahzel and Kenny Muhammad from New York; Flashbox, Alem, and BMG from France; and an international roster of beatbox superstars; we make a pilgrimage to the world championships in Berlin. Along the way, Tessaud unearths the rich sounds and textures of the art of beatboxing, revealing a singular art form with deep ancestral roots.
