With Peter Bratt and Dolores Huerta in person

Part of Changing the Picture, sponsored by Time Warner Inc.

Dir. Peter Bratt. 2017, 97 mins. DCP. With the creation of the National Farmworkers Association in 1962, Cesar Chavez famously transformed the labor movement in the United States. Yet the contributions of another key activist--co-founder Dolores Huerta--have largely been overlooked. A defiant feminist and leader, Dolores Huerta has received numerous awards for her community service and advocacy for workers’, immigrants’, and women’s rights. Using archival footage and interviews with the 87-year old Huerta and her contemporaries, director Peter Bratt’s energizing documentary explores the personal challenges that arise when someone commits her life to the pursuit of justice, and sets the record straight on one of the most effective and undervalued civil and labor rights leaders in modern U.S. history.
