Dirs. Josh and Benny Safdie. 2017, 100 mins. 35mm. With Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie, Taliah Webster, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Barkhad Abdi. After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine "Connie" Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city's underworld in a desperate and dangerous attempt to get his brother Nick (Benny Safdie) out of jail. Directors Josh and Benny Safdie (Heaven Knows What, Daddy Longlegs) set their latest New York story throughout Queens; hard workers come into conflict with hustlers, tract housing developments feel like a hall of mirrors, and matters of life and death are settled on the E train. Featuring a career performance by Robert Pattinson, a propulsive score by Oneohtrix Point Never, and arresting 35mm cinematography by Sean Price Williams.
