With director Jim McKay and DP Charles Libin in person

Dir. Jim McKay. 2018, 92 mins. Digital Projection. With Fernando Cardona, Gilberto Jimenez, Abel Perez. The latest feature from acclaimed director Jim McKay (Girls Town, Our Song, Everyday People) follows a group of undocumented immigrants living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn over the course of seven days. Bicycle delivery guys, construction workers, dishwashers, deli workers, and cotton candy vendors, they work long hours six days a week, and look forward to spending Sundays on the soccer field. But when deliveryman and team captain José (Cardona) takes his squad to the finals, he is suddenly called in for work, forced to decide between saving his job and standing up for himself and his teammates. Shot in the neighborhoods of Sunset Park, Park Slope, and Gowanus, En el Séptimo Día (On the Seventh Day) is a humane, sensitive, and humorous window into a world rarely seen, conveying through restraint and respect for individual experiences the everyday challenges and small triumphs of immigrant workers.
