Part of See It Big! Costumes by Edith Head
Sunday, February 24, 2019, 6:30 p.m.
Museum of the Moving Image - Redstone Theater

Dir. Stanley Donen. 1957, 103 mins. DCP. With Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Kay Thompson. There might never have been a more fashion-forward fim than Stanley Donen’s candy-colored musical, which gave Audrey Hepburn the opportunity to parade some of her most dazzling outfits, designed by the astonishing dream team of Edith Head and Hubert de Givenchy. As a frumpy bookstore girl who falls for a much older photographer (Fred Astaire) and flies with him to Paris to meet her favorite philosopher—and also become a fashion model, Hepburn, decked out in chiffon, lace, and, unforgettably, a form-fitting bohemian black turtleneck, was perhaps never more of a comic force.
