 y and does not officially exist\, and which remains rooted in communist id
 eology. Portuguese filmmaker Salomé Lamas's entrancing\, sonically immersi
 ve film follows Kolya across various borders\, each with its own history a
 nd shadowy demands\, and bringing him to various haunted monuments to Sovi
 et progress\, to ghosts with remnant koans and axes still to grind. Extinc
 tion is a singularly evocative meditation on the simultaneous fluidity and
  immobility of life in the former Soviet territories.\n\n\nTickets: $15 ($
