DESCRIPTION:\n	This event features a dynamic discussion with actor/writer/p
roducer Lawrence Chau (who may be best know for the Ghostly Encounters tel
evision series) and Rashid Shabazz\, the Chief Marketing and Storytelling
Officer at ColorofChange.org\, the nation's largest online racial justice
 organization with over 1.4 million members\, and&nbsp\;actress/filmmaker N
adhege Ptah.\n\n\n	Their discussion will be preceded by the screening of L
awrence Chau's short film\, Justice for Vincent. \n\n\n	Synopsis: A brutal
  case of bloodshed\, a mother’s gut-wrenching loss\, and a community’s out
rage\, Justice For Vincent is an intensely disturbing yet inspiring modern
story about race told from a rarely seen Asian American perspective. The
award-winning short film is based on the historic Vincent Chin case that t
hat played a major role in the Asian American civil rights movement in the
United States. \n\n\n	Mistaken for being Japanese\, Chinese American citi
zen Chin was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat days before his weddi
ng by two auto workers during the so-called “Japanese Auto Invasion” in De
troit 1982 — a crime that saw the murderers walk free with a mere $3\,000
fine and three-year probation. \n\n\n	Archival images of the Chin case fea
tured in the film were graciously provided by real life activists Helen Zi
a\, Stewart Koh\, and photojournalist Corky Lee. \n\n\n	Watch the trailer.
