Amir George: Contorting Metaphysical Hijinks
Friday, July 26, 2019, 7:30 p.m.
Museum of the Moving Image - Bartos Screening Room
Contorting Metaphysical Hijinks is a short film program featuring the films of Amir George. Through his work, George navigates the complexities of life, moving within, through, and around structuring narratives of power, love, joy, trauma, and self; thereby negotiating understandings of the multi-dimensionality of being. The films are amalgamations of spiritual stories juxtaposing sound and image with non-linear perceptions, fragmented vignettes that conjure the secret life of objects both found and collected that reside in "a world within a world."
On Saturday, July 27, Amir George will lead a workshop, Radically Imagining an Archive, for anyone interested in curatorial practice, Afrofuturism, the state of experimental cinema within the African Diaspora, and found footage filmmaking. A combination ticket ($25) is available for those who want to attend both the workshop and screening.
