DESCRIPTION:\n	Presented in conjunction with the program Amir George: Conto
 rting Metaphysical Hijinks \n\n\n	In this workshop\, filmmaker and curator
  Amir George invites participants to bring in archival materials including
  old photographs\, images\, and video clips to explore the radical context
  in which they can exist through filmmaking. The participants' materials a
 re paired together to create a short film. This filmmaking workshop expand
 s on George’s investigation into the cinematic\, employing aesthetic appro
 aches towards afrofuturism\, afrosurrealism\, and the magnificent.&nbsp\;I
 n addition\, this workshop will make available two texts: “Further Conside
 rations of Afrofuturism” by Kodwo Eshun and “Cinema on Lower Frequencies: 
 Black Independent Filmmaking” by Terri Francis. \n\n\n	Amir George is a fi
 lmmaker and curator\, based in Chicago. George is a programmer at True/Fal
 se Film Fest and co-founder of Black Radical Imagination with curator Erin
  Christovale. His films have been screened at institutions and film festiv
 als including Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture\, Institute o
 f Contemporary Arts\, London\, Anthology Film Archives\, Glasgow School of
  Art\, The Museum of Contemporary Arts Detroit\, Ann Arbor Film Festival\,
  Trinidad and Tobago International Film Festival\, BlackStar Film Festival
 \, Afrikana Film Festival and the Chicago Underground Film Festival\, amon
