 terest\, heads to the country with a passel of her best friends only to di
 scover their destination is haunted through and through. They’re hit by th
 e inexplicable almost immediately upon arrival and soon the girls are bein
 g singled out and eviscerated in increasingly gruesome fashion by features
  of the house itself. The nonsensical plotting is alleged to have been gen
 erated at least in part by the stream-of-conscious mutterings of Obayashi’
 s pre-teen daughter\, and the film throughout is a banquet of child-like s
 urrealism. Hausu is a near-unclassifiable oddity\, a cult cinematic whatsi
