 reer lampooning the follies of communism and capitalism alike and everythi
 ng in between\, often without a clear joke in sight. It is this sort of sa
 tirical ambiguity that Makavejev and writer Frank Moorhouse bring to the t
 able in The Coca-Cola Kid’s clownish tale of corporate conquest in the out
 back. Viewers will be forgiven if their sympathy for the imperialistic mar
 keting guru protagonist Becker (Eric Robert) should waver\, or their disli
 ke of idiosyncratic small-town soft-drink magnate T. George McDowell (Bill
  Kerr) should come into question. This is all by Makavejevian design\, pre
 senting a world in which everything is simultaneously a sitting duck and m
