Jim Henson’s World: New Visions of Puppets on Screen
Today, a new generation of puppeteers is experimenting with ways to use film as a medium for artistic expression, working in a wide variety of filmmaking and puppetry styles. Join us for a conversation with puppeteers/filmmakers Sam Koji Hale, Toby Froud, Raymond Carr, and Alba Enid Garcia, all of whom have made work supported by Handmade Puppet Dreams, an organization founded by Heather Henson that presents screenings at festivals around the world and via Amazon Prime Video. They will talk about the state of the art of puppets on screen, and how they have been influenced by Jim Henson’s deeply humanist approach to storytelling and commitment to experimentation.
While this event is free, we hope you will consider supporting the Museum with a donation. MoMI's staff is working hard to fulfill its mission via remote programming. This comes with opportunities to experiment but also profound challenges. Your support is critical to ensure our work remains vital and visible to a broad public. Suggested donation: $10. Donate here.
