DESCRIPTION:\n	Queens Drive-In\, on the grounds of the New York Hall of Sci
ence in Flushing Meadows Corona Park\, is located at 47-01 111th Street\,
 Corona\, New York 11368 \n	\n\n\n	Bulletproof \n	\n	Dir. Todd Chandler. US
\, 2020\, 83 mins. Bulletproof explores the complexities of violence in sc
hools by looking at the strategies employed to prevent it. The film observ
es the longstanding rituals and rehearsals that take place in and around A
merican schools: homecoming parades\, basketball practice\, morning announ
cements\, and math class. Unfolding alongside these scenes are a collectio
n of newer traditions: lockdown drills\, teacher firearms training\, metal
detector screenings\, and school safety trade shows. Bulletproof asks wha
t these rituals reflect back at us in a cinematic meditation on the array
of forces that shape the culture of violence in the United States. \n	\n\n
 \n	Stray \n	\n	Dir. Elizabeth Lo. US\, 2020\, 73 mins. Stray explores what
it means to live as a being without status or security\, following three
strays - Zeytin\, Nazar and Kartal - as they embark on inconspicuous journ
eys through Turkish society that allow us an unvarnished portrait of human
life — and their own canine culture. Zeytin\, fiercely independent\, emba
rks on adventures through the city at night\; Nazar\, nurturing and protec
tive\, easily befriends the humans around her\; while Kartal\, a shy puppy
living on the outskirts of a construction site\, finds companions in the
security guards who care for her. The disparate lives of Zeytin\, Nazar an
d Kartal intersect when they each form intimate bonds with a group of youn
g Syrians who share the streets with them. Whether they lead us into bustl
ing streets or decrepit ruins\, the gaze of these strays acts as a window
into the overlooked corners of society: women in loveless marriages\, prot
esters without arms\, refugees without sanctuary. Stray is a critical obse
rvation of human civilization through the unfamiliar gaze of dogs and a se
nsory voyage into new ways of seeing. Courtesy of Magnolia Pictures. \n\n
